EIDs displaying incorrectly?

When you download your data file as a CSV and open it in a spreadsheet program like Excel or Numbers, you might notice that the EIDs (Electronic Identification numbers) are shown in scientific notation (e.g., 8.4E+14). Follow these simple steps to format the EIDs correctly:

For Excel:

1. Select the Entire Column: Locate the column where the EIDs are displayed. Click on the column header labeled “A” at the top to select the whole column.
2. Change the Number Format: At the top of your spreadsheet, find the toolbar section labeled “Numbers”. Look for a dropdown menu that is currently set to “General”. Click the dropdown and choose “Number” from the list.
3. Remove the Extra Decimal Places: After changing the format to “Number,” you’ll notice that the EIDs now display as regular numbers, but they might have two decimal places (e.g., 840000123456789.00).
   • While the entire column is still selected, go back to the “Numbers” section in the toolbar.
   • Find the two small icons that adjust decimal places: one with an arrow pointing left (to add decimals) and one pointing right (to remove decimals).
   • Click the right-pointing arrow icon twice to remove the decimal places and show the EIDs as whole numbers.

For Numbers (Mac):

1. Select the Entire Column: Locate the column where the EIDs are displayed. Click on the column header labeled “A” at the top to select the whole column.
2. Change the Number Format: At the top of your spreadsheet, find the toolbar section labeled “Cell”. Look for a dropdown menu that is currently set to “Automatic”. Click the dropdown and choose “Number” from the list.
3. Remove the Extra Decimal Places: After changing the format to “Number,” you’ll notice that the EIDs now display as regular numbers, but they might have two decimal places (e.g., 840000123456789.00).
   • While the entire column is still selected, go back to the “Cell” section in the toolbar.
   • Adjust the Decimal Places dropdown to “0” to show the EIDs as whole numbers.

Your EIDs are now properly formatted and easy to read!
